Starting a Mini Album

Have you ever tried to start a new project and it just wasn't coming along well at all? Well I have and am still struggling some on this new project.

BUT..watching youtube videos and blogs for ideas and inspiration I think I will end up with a mini album/journal after all. There are some beautiful projects out there and I am by far not going to have one that looks like them but I am giving it a shot!

After many tries and not succeeding on making the cover I came across something while shopping at one of my local Arc stores for 'goodies'. It was a photo album with a cover that I sort of like. So I had my theme and even a couple of embellishments on it - was bound with old raffia that I cut and removed and easy as pie the picture folders inside came out. Will use some ribbon for the new binding.

Next - pulled out paper stacks, individual papers, scrap papers and even printed some fun freebie's that would work with the direction I was going with this. Then into my bins of assorted embellishments, vintage, Tim Holtz style, bits and pieces of old jewelry, bread bag tabs, safety pins, keys, beads and so on. Over the next few days I'll be working on this album and hope to have pictures to post of how it is coming along.

Grins and Giggles

About a year ago I had a VW Bug - loved it. We sold it because I was not working and it seemed silly for me to have 2 cars (3 actually but that is another story) so we decided to sell the bug. Now if I still had that little car I might have done this. One thing for sure if I had - my dear hubby would not drive it at all!

Enjoy the cute - or the giggle and the no way would I do that or maybe like me you MIGHT do that to your car!

I saw this on the web from a company call carlashes.com they had them for several different cars.

2012 Resolution(s)

Starting 2012 with a cold but it will pass and then on with the better than last year - new year!
One of my resolutions is to read more. I have many books on bookshelves and several on my Nook so I really have no reason NOT to read! Well okay maybe I do have one little reason to not read..I fall asleep reading most of the time. Even when I was out on my front porch - reading - sunshine - sleep! Yes out there for all the world to see! Okay so maybe not the world but for sure all of my neighborhood to see as they drive by...how embarrassing!

I don't have a real 'cozy' place to settle in and read other than an over sized chair in my bedroom near a window and that will work just fine. I was looking on the web for cozy reading nooks and found this and a saying that seemed to go with it...

She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

We had such a nice Christmas. Best part had to be my 3 happy Grandsons. Good company, eats and entertainment by Grandson's and our dogs.

The 3 boys had to be silly, Buddy the dog hoping for a treat, hubby and I, Daughter and family, Son and family and my niece and nephew. Bruiser was at the step kids house because he does not do well with so many around.

Snowman Mug card:

Foil-solid strip paper from Recollections Warm Wishes
Mug with snowman cut from one of the papers in the Warm Wishes stack
Bit of glitter pen on straw, hat and little dots.
Placed on a Wobble so it wiggles.
Pop dots on 2 small marshmallows and placed on cutout.

Easy and quick - seems like most of my cards were easy and quick this year.

Who Was Stealing My Christmas Lights?

Just think of all the work that goes into decorating your Christmas tree - lights, baulble, glitter and shine! Yes lots of work - you stand back and smile and totally enjoy it. Evening comes and you settle in with some hot tea and enjoy the lights and think of how much you love Christmas. Off you go to bed for a good nights sleep.

THEN to discover the next day the lights are missing! YES MISSING!!!

Here is the culprit! Caught red handed with them!

HA HA HA....Merry Christmas!

My DH so believes in Big Foot - we even went to Washington in hopes of catching a peak of one! Nope did not happen. A couple of Christmas's ago Bill's daughter found a statue of one that is about 3 ft tall - he is in my flower bed! Love it. Then she came across this Big Foot ornament and well she just had to get that as well. So no matter how we decorate the tree we will always put Big Foot someplace. We get so much enjoyment out of both of them. Here is the tree this year. I had a beautiful "fat" tree but we just do not have the room for that and presents for 3 Grandsons. A couple of years ago I found a nice "thin" tree and we now use that. It is a very nice tree; decorated in red and gold this year. I'll get some pictures and post them later.

The card base is a 5.5x4, red mat, black snowflake paper, Cricut Joy of the Season Polar bear cut at 2.25, punched snowflakes with some glitter and pop dots, bling and red glitter sticker letters. Isn't he cute!

Christmas Cards-2011

Not sure if I am in a lazy place or what but this card was basic cut and place!

It is a red card base 6x4.5. The papers used for this are from a small Recollections Holiday Traditions pack. Cut the Santa head and hand a second time and place on pop dots, sentiment is a rub on and some bling! For a bit more dimension I put some flock on Santa's beard and glove.

This paper is very cool - looks old fashion for sure. I added a close up picture so you can see the 'old' look of the paper and the flock. Again - super simple! Enjoy!

Christmas Cards-2011

Finally finished a few cards. They were easy to make thanks to stickers, pattern paper, punches and the extras ... enjoy.

The 3 'bells' are 5 1 inch circles, inked the edges, and glued them together to make the ornament. Four punched squares, placed them on pop dots, tree button with some cord. Words for both are from http://www.creativityprompt.com. Made for a couple of quick cards and they are not my ideas - totally CASED them. (remember I said easy)

The others above, again super easy, used papers from DCWV, Graphic 45 and Recollections. Snowflake from Martha Stewart punch. Trees and deer are stickers from Stampendous...some buttons, ribbon and bling! Done!

It was cloudy here today so my pictures were not so great did a bit of editing so they were not so dark. Not sure why it took me so long to get them done - all of them were quick!

Nice to have a few done and I hope to work on more next week. Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome.

Shopping and Inspired!

OKAY...we made it through another fun Halloween. We had some very cute little ones and one scary teen.

We are expecting more snow on Wednesday - oh the joys of shoveling it! I went to Michael's and Hobby Lobby and now more than ready to begin working on Christmas cards! In my mind I see some very nice and fun cards...we shall see what actually happens! Cross your fingers for me okay? Okay....

Changed the old blog background to a winter one - isn't it cute!! So with this, new papers, snow (coming) and maybe some holiday music ... and a bit of hot chocolate I am ready for Wednesday and some crafting.

Happy Halloween 2011-Ghost Story

We all love a good ghost story. Do you have one? Leave me a comment and share it with us!

Ghosts and spirits have been around for a very long time...a very long time. I have a few of my own and have shared them with you.

What stirs the imagination to think we see a ghost? An old house with weathered wood, missing window glass and the vegetation that is now taking back the land.  Vines, bushes and trees give off haunting shadows, a full moon, a bit of wind and you have a ghost story!

Not always do you need shadows and wind. LOOK....there it was - in the grassy field by our home. A mist or was it him? No not the lady with the flowing gown...this was like fog or like I said a mist.  It move slow at first then a bit faster - like maybe it saw me watching. I know what I saw and it was not a bush or vine moving in the wind!

Out there are the graves of some of my ancestors. We are not sure exactly where they have been laid to rest but the little wooden markers that we have placed out here have will have to do for now. Why is it that on evenings of a full moon that I see something out there? Why not on the other nights when we have clear skies and a partial moon?? Must be something that connects the spirit with the full moon. They are not moving around to scare me even when I feel something on my hair, a touch on my arm and once a touch on my cheek. No it was not a breeze that late night because there was none - I know what I felt. It felt cold even on that warm evening and no one was there with me. It had to be a ghost...it just had to be.

I venture out again with my trusty camera in hand and I snap away at the darkness hoping to catch this mist or an apparition so I can prove to you what I see! Again is is not what I have seen but what I see each time I have come outside when the moon is full. No one believes me so I keep hoping to get a picture.

Here is a little of what I have been told. Our family member, we will call him Peter, was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. Did you know that their bullets were made of lead? Many of those with just a gun shot wound died from the lead poisoning and not the wound. Some went into deep coma's and seemed to be dead - they buried them still alive! Soon they realized what was happening they started tying string to their fingers,on the other end was a bell and someone would stand guard over the graves; if they were alive and woke up they would ring the bell and hence the saying Dead Ringer - true story! But for Peter he did not die in the field - he managed to make his way home to his family. He lived for a few days and then passed.  Seen as a hero  by some - he was laid to rest in a vault of some sort. I know for a fact that what I see is a Confederate soldier that walks around on those full moon nights. Is he missing his family and the life he could have had if he did not go off to war? Peter never married but had a lady friend. She married his brother who was not able to go off to war because he lost part of his leg in a farming accident. They never forgot Peter and named their first Son after him.

So this is my story.  Now enjoy this Halloween and the fun that comes with it. Lots of treats and no tricks!

Fall In Colorado, 2011

I still have a few Halloween & Fall cards to make but this was a nice change. I was inspired by a very nice card I saw on Kittie Kraft ( http://kittiekraft.typepad.com ). I had the tree & branch punch so it was easy to make a similar card. I thank her for inspiring me with her beautiful cards...so be sure to visit her blog and check the out.

I made 2 cards with the tree punch border - hope you enjoy them. They are very easy cards to make - little bit of punching, embossing, ribbon, glitter and glitter pen, paper from my stash and they are done. The first card is a cream color and the light was not good so I am sorry for the bad picture. The second one is on a soft brown paper so it does show up a little better.

Fall Leaves Challenge-My Craft Spot Challenge #26

There are some great ideas posted there so be sure to check it out and join the challenge!

The card is 4x5.5, green with orange mat. Used brown for the embossed tree; embossing plate is from Crafts-Too. The leaves are punched (no name on the punch) and some ribbon. I made a slit on each side of the tree trunk to weave the ribbon behind. Letters are from a Martha Stewart alphabet punch set. Simple but I really like how it turned out.

Halloween Card-Paper Cutz Challenge #109

Another fun challenge. I love all of the ideas that everyone has and they do inspire me! Thanks to Mary and the design team for having the challenges and posting their cards.

My card is 4x5.5. Used Mini Monsters to make the little Ghost, tree and fence. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the bat. The circle is 2 in. and is from a punch I have with no name on it. The little pumpkin is from Happy Hauntings - he is the ghost that the headless horsemen holds! Tiny! The sentiment is computer generated, inks to shade the tree and several of the edges. The bat is layers put together to give him dimension. I posted a picture of that as well.

Again another fun card for Halloween!

This was a fun card to make - Monster is from Mini Monsters, Martha Stewart fence punches for web, fence, EEK and little bat in the moon and on her hand. The background paper from "old" paper stash, pumpkins are from Happy Haunting. Bit of Glossy Accents on her teeth and the tiny bats on the fence, google eyes and an Action Wobble so she can act scared. I need to do a video on the wobble cards - they are so much fun!

Halloween Cards

Finally back to posting on my blog. My mojo was just not in the creative mood. The Halloween cards posted are super simple but still fun to make. Am sure my Grandson's will enjoy them.

Goblins are from Bump In The Night cartridge - cut at 3 and 3.5. The green one is on an Action Wobble. Used computer generated and rub on sentiments, google eyes. The yellow goblin is on a Z fold card.

Girl spider is from Mini Monsters and the other is from Doodle Charms. The Girl is on an Action Wobble used some google eyes, ribbon and stickers.

Eek mouse is from Happy Haunting, cut at 3 inches and EEK cut at 1/2 inch. The label is from Lacy Labels and cut at 4 3/4, ribbon, bling and cuttle bug embossed purple paper.

Haunted house is a $1 stamp from Michaels, Boo ribbon from stash, skull punch from Martha Stewart and tiny pumpkin brads from stash. Did a bit of ink and chalk on the haunted house to bring it out some.

Many of the papers used here are from the small packs that I got at Wal-mart for 97 Cents! Mary over at Cardz TV had a little haul and told us about the fun bargains at Wal-mart so I had to go and check them out! Thanks Mary!

Gosh August is here and some of the kids are already in school! Wow short summer but it is the back to school month - honest it is - I googled it! I love August because I know that just around the corner are some cooler days - the beginning of Fall. Fall - I love Fall.

Did you know that in August we have some special days? One thing I found was it is national goat cheese month! Hmm - okay so what are some fun days for August.

26th is Women's Equality (good one) and Cherry Popsicle Day!

ATC's

Hi there. Someone told me the ATC's can be addicting-yup! Sort of like making cards - it is the instant gratification. Well almost instant. They are fun and you can put just about anything together and make one. Good place to use up some of the small paper scraps, odds and ends of embellishments and so on.

I made the Flamingo one in honor of the ladies that I scrapbook with. The Flamingo Scrappers aka the Pink Ladies! Love you gals. We are finally getting together again after a very long dry spell - thanks Christine for hosting! Instead of scrap booking I'll be working on the junk journal and starting an altered book for Halloween.

Enjoy the ATC's and hope everyone is having a wonderful summer...can we say HOT!

Junk Journals

Finally am back to doing some paper crafting. I have been trying to make a junk journal for myself. Had to do a lot of searching for ideas and video how-2's and wow there are so many of them out there. Thanks to all of you who do this!

No pictures yet but will be posting soon. My Daughter (Dawn) is also working on one and am sure hers will make mine look so blah! She has a better hand on this than I do.

Remember I did one for each of my Grandson's and looking forward to the end of their Summer to see what they have done. I didn't use cereal boxes for mine --- just in case you are wondering. (smile)
Hope everyone is enjoying the Summer - here in Denver we are now on day 11/12 of rain ... LOTS of rain. All I can say is that it is SOOO green and I love that. I could do without the humidity - we are normally a dry state (lots of lotion) but not lately. Not going to fuss very much because our water bill is much lower than it normally would be. Thanks Mother Nature!

Been Gone 2 Long

Well for goodness sake I have just missed my little old blog...nothing to post at the moment. Not sure just what exactly has consumed all of my craft time but I miss my paper! I have a clean craft room now because we have out of town family visiting but may try to get in some craft time soon.

I really need to make something...itching fingers! I did stop by Archivers to day so I also have some new stuff to play with ... so that make my fingers itch even more!

Freshly Picked - Gnomes A Hit

I love this Gnome and the other 2 that are are this cartridge. Freshly Picked is so perfect for the gardener in all of us. It looks like a garden cartridge but there could be some great Fall ideas with this as well, Mom/Father's day, birthdays etc.

This little guy was used for a Fathers day card. Measures 5x5.5, he was cut at 3.5, sign cut at 2 inches and the little pea pods are 1.5inches. Sentiment is "peas"....inside....have a great Fathers Day.

Fathers Day Beach Challenge - Cardz TV

Finally I get to play with my favorite toys! Spring clean up and flower planting is done so now I can get back to paper crafting!

The card is 5x5, the center scallop was purchased at Archivers some time ago, Life is a Beach for the tree, surf board and the hand "hang ten" symbol. Sentiment was computer generated...inside is says....and enjoy your Father's Day. You so deserve the down time...dude!

My Favorite Garden - 2011

This lovely garden is in Lakewood and over the past several years has grown and grown and wow! I love to visit there all during the year - there is always something to enjoy. Here are just a couple of pictures to share with ya! Enjoy!

The first one is shows the buds and TADA....you have this beautiful bloom. I do not know the name of this cactus but it is so beautiful! There are several different cactus as well as all the flowers.

Elk-2011

Spring rains have made our grasses, weeds and flowers a tempting meal for the Elk that see to always come down to see us. We are just around the corner from a draw/gully and they are always there. On the sidewalk, at the back fence of yards and they don't seem to have any fear of us! I was in our car and stopped next to the curb and he was within 3 feet of me !!

Just a young one but one of many pictures I will get this year it seems....enjoy!!

ATC Cards

My Daughter and I are giving ATC cards a try. ATC stands for artist trading cards. Some of the examples that I have found doing a Google search are absolutely beautiful and super creative.

ATC's are 2.5 x 3.5. I cut some a base out of some food boxes, used ink, paper, bling, old cards, ribbon on so on. They were very fun and I will be making a few more.

Flower Soft and Pink Petticoat Stamps

I went to a small stamp/scrapbook show this past weekend and was happy to see the Flower Soft lady was there so I did some shopping!  On the web site I had seen the bicycle card and loved it - lucky me they had it at the show. It is difficult to see the Flower Soft but it is on some of the flowers in the picture. In person it is so pretty. Little bling and ribbon and it was done. Card size is a 5x7.

In the Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine was a free stamp set from Pink Petticoat!  They are so cute - birds, mushroom house, flower and sentiments!  I did the little bird because she is so sweet but I will be using the others very soon. What a nice gift!

Stamp and color the little bird, used a MS butterfly border punch, bit of glitter, chalk, Gelly pens and pop dots.    The embossed card is from Michaels $1 picks and cut down to 4.5x4.5, pink circle is 3.5, white circle about 3.25 and a bit of ink around the edges.

The butterfly border around the circle was made from a straight border punch. Made some small cuts so I could turn it and put around the circle. I have seen this done on several Youtube videos and it works so well!   I put a picture of the back of the circle so you can see how it was put on. Used a bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Pearl) to give it a hint of sparkle and that is also why it has a couple of curls! Oh well.

My cards are all 4.25 x 5.5. The owl and bird are from my Stampin Up bird and owl punch. I love them! The stems are cut from a Sizzix branch die, used Sizzix Vintage Wallpaper to emboss the pink card, all the flowers are from a variety of punches that I have. Ribbon, bling, stamped sentiments, paper from Hobby Lobby and stash then a few puff dots...thats it! I hope you enjoy them.

This little news snippet caught my attention...WACKY WHEELS AT AUTO SHANGHAI 2011...so there are some cute, unique and different little cars pictured there BUT this one is my giggle and then wishes.

I would love to see an ice cream truck like this in our neighborhood! What I do see is old, not so fun, crackling music that isn't fun .... am sure some of you have the same truck(s)! Anyway this is what I want to see....love it!

Vintage Style Card

I really like many of the vintage or Tim Holtz style cards. Today I gave one a try. It is very sparse in comparison to others that I have seen so I will need to do a bit of shopping for items to use. This is really stepping out of my comfort zone. It was a fun challenge for me and overall I like the finished card.

Dark chocolate card base and papers from Tim Holtz Paper Stash paper stack. The card is 4.25x5.5, 3 strips of different pattern paper for the base, according fold flower, butterfly and people are all papers from the stack. The key is from 7Gypsies and the lace ribbon is from Stampin Up.

Cricut Cardz Challenge and Cardz TV Challenge - Mothers Day

Mothers Day challenge's...lucky me I just finished my 2 Mothers Day cards yesterday!

Mother's Day - that is the new challenge at Cricut Cardz Challenge (#71) ...so check out, again, the great examples and of course check out the entries. AND now entered the same card for Marys challenge over at Cardz TV. Mary's challenge colors are blue, green, purple & white. My purple is more a periwinkle (2 flowers) so I hope that will still work. Always great inspiration at both of these sites!

Speaking of inspiration...Mary at CardzTV made a beautiful card for Mother's Day - the fence! I just love that card. I pulled out my Bloom cartridge and found this basket with flowers...with that I made a card for one of my Daughters. I did pick the same frame as Mary did on the card with the fence. Love it Mary - thanks again for more wonderful ideas and work.

My entry is a Penny Black bunny stamp that I have had for years! I used markers, color pencils, glitter pens, glitter and chalk to try and make this look good. Overall it turned out okay. I cut the bunny and his little mouse friend out. The card is from the dollar items at Michaels, textured paper and pattern paper is from Colorbok paper stacks from Wal-mart. Bit of ribbon and some tiny buttons - I like using ribbon and buttons. Enjoy and be sure to enter the challenge for some fun.

I love the birthday invitation she made for Grandpa! Now that is just super cute. Wanted to enter the challenge with this card. Was difficult to get a picture that shows the black scallop very well and to see the foil in the background paper. This was an easy card and I like how it turned out.

If I could pick the stamp set I wanted it would be Sweet Sentiments and Sweet Sentiments #2. All are great but that would be my pick...crossing my fingers! Good luck to everyone who enters!
The scallops are from a Martha Stewart punch, background paper from Wal-mart paper stack, some ribbon and a tag. Inside has the Happy Birthday...Hope you enjoy!

While shopping at Archivers the other day I came across an example card they had out. I love it! So I purchased the stamp and copied the card - with a few changes. One card has some Flower Soft on the trees. I need to use the flower soft some more - it really gives things another look.

The oval is from Lacy Labels. I just got this cartridge and I think it is a must in your Cricut collection. Will be using this one often for sure.

Denver Zoo 2011

Easter Bunnies and Challenges

Finally had a chance to make a bunny card for the challenge hosted by Mary at CardzTV (http://www.cardztv.blogspot.com/).

Purple card came from Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge. The card was cut at 5 1/2 as well as the frame. The bunny and basket - well that took a few cuts as you do not cut them at the same size as you do the card! After several cuts I ended up with a 2 inch bunny and a 2 3/4 inch basket! With the extra bunnies and baskets - I used one inside.   The little flowers are so cute and easy to make.

Yellow card is 4 x 5.25. Background paper from my stash, ribbon & little flowers from Michaels, bunny is a punch, grass is from Straight From the Nest and cut at 1 3/4. Sentiment was computer generated.

Circle is from Wild Card cartridge and cut at 5 inches. The green scallop is from The Paper Cut, it is 4.5 inches. I purchased them a couple of years ago at a small stamp/scrapbook show.   Bunny was cut from Celebrate With Flourish, flowers are made using the wings from the Stampin Up bird punch, inked around the edges, used the branch from the same punch. Little ribbon and a white pom-pom.

Easter Chick!

Hi there and welcome Spring!!! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We had such beautiful weather so hubby and I cleaned up the patio, gave the yard a little drink of water, grilled steaks and enjoyed a nice dinner with each other. Nice end to the weekend.

I made this little chick card and it turned out so cute. I used 2 Cricut cartridges for this one.
First I used Live Simply to cut the flower behind the Chick, cut at 3 inches and it has some little flowers (yellow) that go with it also set a 3 inches. I don't think it looks like a flower but that is what they call it. Looks more like a bush with little yellow flowers on it.

Used Celebrate with Flourish to get the Chick and she is cut at 2.5 inches. I cut 2 of them and glued them together to give it more stability because I was using pop dots to lift it from the green flower.

Used a Stampin Up 3 flower punch that I have had for a long time - sorry I do not know what that punch is called. The 3 blue flower are more a periwinkle color than the blue shown.

The card is green and 4.75 x 5.5 in size. Next is a yellow layer that I embossed using Swiss Dots, flower background paper was from stash, bling for the eye and some yellow ribbon.

I like the way this turned out. Hope you enjoy it as well.

Spring Tulips

I am loving the beautiful sunshine days we are having here in Colorado. I see my bulbs are popping out of the ground and soon I'll have some Spring color! Even my grass is getting some green in it. Winter is okay except for the snow shoveling, cold days and brown on brown colors. This girl LOVES Spring time for sure. My favorite time of the year.

Here are a couple of cards that I CASEd for sure. My fav is the purple layer tulip! The picture does not do it justice at all. I put in a close up of the flower so you can see the layers. Card size is 4.5 x 6, paper used is from stash, tulip was made by using the Owl punch from Stampin Up and the leaves from a circle punch. I sprayed the finished flower with a bit of Glimmer Mist - Sugar Plum Fairy. Love how it looks - again I wish you could see in person!

Second card was another CAS that I found on Splitcoast. Card size is 4.25x5.5, tulips made with oval punch, free hand cut the leaves, attached to the white card stock and embossed. I do not have the name of this embossing plate but it is one I got from Stampin Up, made by Sizzix. Red card was purchased some time ago at a small stamping show but I do not have the vendor name. Added a bow using some ribbon that I purchased from http://www.reasonableribbon.com/ - they have some great ribbons!! Added a button to the bow and in the corner.

St. Pat's and Easter Cards

Gosh St. Patties day is in 3 days and I am just now making my cards! Good thing I had an open day today!

Both cards were very easy to make, sentiment was printed on my computer and card size is 5.5x4. Most papers are from my stash except the one with tiny shamrocks - I got that at Archivers. I used Celebrate with Flourish Cricut cartridge and cut the Shamrocks at 2.5 inches. Punched a few little shamrocks, used tiny pop dots to layer them and some bling. That's all it took and I think they are cute.

The Easter card is 4.5x6, polka dot paper is from Colorbok paper stack from Wal-mart, the other papers are from my stash. Used my go to scallop border punch; use it often because it just seems to always fit! I cut the chick from Celebrate with Flourish - cut at 3 inches. This is a bit larger card than I normally like to make but silly me - when I was ready to cut the chic I did not check my size and pressed cut and walked away! Oh well - I like this card and how it turned out. It says Happy Easter inside - also cut that from the same cartridge.

Mini Cup Cake Paper Flower

This is so darn fun ... using cupcake papers to make some unique flowers! Found this on Youtube but forgot to make note of who gave me this idea!! So to that person...thanks!

There are about 8-10 papers and the last 4 used on the top I trimmed down some. You just flatten the cupcake paper and fold in half and half again ... then you cut it to get the fringe/petals. Punched a hole in the center of the paper and added the brad to hold it together. You can fluff the paper as much or little as you like. I have it more fluffy than the picture shows....looks so cute in person. My paper cups came from Hobby Lobby but am on the look out for some fun pattern ones!! They are so fun!! I have a few more that I have made but need to put together a card for them. Give it a try...easy as can be.

Embossed the pink paper with Sizzix Vintage Wallpaper and Swiss Dots leaving the area under the ribbon free of embossing. Card stock is from Hobby Lobby. Card size is 4.25x5.5.

Straight From The Nest

This was such an easy card. Thanks to dusting off and using my Cricut! The tree was cut at 3 inches, stamped some leaf/stem on the green & brown of the tree using Versa Mark, and tiny pop dots under the leaves. Punched 2 scallop circles, stamped the sentiment with Stampendous Happy Everything stamps with black ink then added a couple pop dots under the smaller one. Embossing folder by Sizzix "Elegant Lines" bit of ink to bring out the emboss. The card is 4.25x5.5. Bling and card stock is from Hobby Lobby.

Beads and Charms and Pins - Oh My!

Along with paper crafting I also like to play with beads.  Having pulled my bead boxes out of storage to make a few charms and stick pins ... I had to make a few more.

With all the great colors, sizes, shapes of beads to pick from....I just wanted to play with them even more.   Again thank you to those bloggers for their ideas and video how-2's!

A blog friend of mine was kind enough to make me a few silhouette cutouts from one of her Cricut cartridges. THANKS AGAIN SANDY B. I think the cartridge she used was A Childs Year.

This is the card I made using one of them. Love it. The silhouettes 3.5, stitches are from the Sew Easy (also from Sandy B.) and it was so easy (giggle) to use and stitch. Love it! Will be using that tool way more for sure.

Stick Pins and Charms

Well mine are very simple for now but it is a start. I am now on a quest to find unique things to use on them. I have been busy so no time to really shop around but that time will come. So for now this is what I have to post but more will come! There are a few others but I am going to re-do them....

Valentine cards are ready to go, here comes Easter and St. Patties...so time to get after that as well.

Trying Something Different

Well I am working on a couple of little things right now. Not cards but something else. I will post them when I am done...well maybe I will. It will depend on how they look and if I think they are okay...for a newbie!

I have watched videos looked at pictures and they seem so easy but we shall see.

Valentine Cards

Finally back to my Cricut - had to dust it off for goodness sake! (kidding). Was not sure just what I wanted to do for Valentine cards so I figured I'd start with what would be fun for the Grandsons as I looked at my cartridges.

Live Simply has some very cute critters so I picked the Hedgehog and Frog. Used my punch for the Owl. I did a tiny video showing the frog wiggle...he and one Hedgehog are on Action Wobbles. I love those things!

The frame on the second Hedgehog is also from Live Simply. The card with the frog was cut from Wild Card.

Flocked Easter Bunny

I so CASED this card idea! Mary at Cardz TV (http://www.cardztv.blogspot.com/) has a video showing how to add flocking to your card. She used a different bunny but I did copy the sentiment and flocking idea...very cute card Mary!

This is my version of the flocked bunny. Picture does not show off the colors or the flocking...way better in person. I don't really like how the sentiment on the front looks so I may be changing that.

Card is 4 x 5.5. Bunny is from Cricut Live Simply and cut at 3 inches. Ran the bunny through the Xyron and then added the white flock. Bling, ribbon and paper is from my stash. He is so soft!

Second card - is okay..not sure I like this card so will post and get your thoughts.

Here are a few more that I did at the crop. I really should have been working on my scrapbook but was not really ready to work on that. So I packed up some card making supplies and off I went.

Do you realize how heavy your tote can get when you want to take some punches!! Yikes...need to plan better next time.

Just Because card is so very simple. The card itself is from a box of pattern cards that I got on my last visit to JoAnns, ribbon from stash, the brown with white dots and blue papers are from a Colorbok paper stack that I purchased at Wal-mart. Stamped sentiment, tiny button and pearls from my stash and the tag is from a punch.

What's Up - pattern paper from DCWV Green Stack, the little beaver is also from that paper stack and I cut out 2 of them so I could layer. Punched 3 scallops and punched holes in the large brown one. The tag is free handed and bling from stash. This was a very quick card!

Birthday Wishes - made the card from cream paper, pattern paper has some raised velvet and this is from DCWV La Creme paper stack. Very nice papers in that stack! This card really looks nice in person - sorry the picture does not show it off.

Thinking of You card. I saw this "flower" idea some time ago, thanks to the person who came up with this idea! Card base from package of blank cards, pattern paper from Green Stack, rub-on sentiment, bakers twine from Reasonable Ribbon - you must go there and check out all the ribbon they have - love it! Fun card.

Ribbon flower card - stitched one side of the ribbon and gathered it to make the flower, brad for the center, bird is from a punch (Stampin Up) and all placed on the printed card. Quick one!

Owl card. The base card was a bo-bo but after a while I pulled it together with Spellbinders, punched owl, pearls, paper from stash and rub on letters for "hugs". Turned out better than I thought it would and it was fun.

Now that is all for a while! Enjoy and comments are always welcome. Will be working some other cards using the Action Wobbles. Hope I can make a video to do a show and tell once done.

Batch of Cards-1

I had a very nice time this past Saturday. Prepped a few cards to work on at the crop that my friend Christine hosted. Because I like to visit so much I have to get things ready to work on...talking makes my creative brain shut down! (smile).

You can't see it but the bulldog has an Action Wobble on his head. I found this cute puppy picture on the web and it sort of looks like our Bruiser as a pup. We did not have him as a puppy so I am only making a guess. This is going to be a Valentine. Bow Wow - inside will be ....translated means happy valentines day! The paw paper was from Hobby Lobby and the green card base is Stampin Up paper. Brown from my paper stash. Very cute in person and the head wobbling is cute.

Happy Birthday card - this is so nice in person! Cream card base, pink pattern paper, white sheer ribbon, rub on sentiment and bling! Simple for sure but so nice. Picture does not do it justice.

Valentine, Birthday and Such

I have several birthday cards to make in addition to the Valentine cards. Busy month for sure in my craft room. Can you just imagine the mess? What the heck it is fun isn't it!

I picked up a Paper Craft magazine that came with a free gift! 10 double side papers, 10 decoupage designs and greetings. The little bear with flowers was my first one. Cut out the 4 ovals and layer with pop dots. I used some purple paper from my scraps and some ribbon. Did a little bit of glitter pen on the flower centers. Seeing in person - very cute.

The pink cupcake is one made with a scallop punch, free cut the bottom, stamped sentiment on punched label from my EK Success punch. Some bling and ribbon. Card and papers are all from my assorted paper stash.

The green/pink cupcake is done with a stamp. Stamp the frosting on pink and bottom on some brown paper. The stamp set is Inkadinkado. Tiny hearts are from a Martha Stewart border punch, tag from a 2 tag punch by McGill. Spellbinders for the 2 center papers and Cuttlebug dots embossing folder.

Butterfly's from an EK Success punch, green papers are embossed using dots and my Cuttlebug, stamped sentiment and punched out with a small circle scallop. This card base is from the dollar bins at Michaels-made for a quick card!

The black card base is one I have had for a while, used a small scallop border punch for the cream and black center papers, accordian fold flower, brad to help hold it in place along with some glue. Stamped the sentiment on a label that I punched.

Enjoy the cards and will now clean up my mess! Then back to it. Thanks for looking and sharing any comments - they are always welcome.

Owl Punch - Winter - Valentine

Have I said that I like this owl punch? He (or she) is so much fun to use.

The blue card is 5.5x4.25, the little snowflake panel is from DCWV Doodlin Around paper stack, other papers are from my many piles of pattern papers! Ribbon is from Michaels, some bling, computer generated sentiment and google eyes. There is a new product coming to the market sometime in January called Action Wobble's. I found a way to make my own so the owl does wiggle. The idea was that the owl is shivering!

The red card is 4.25x5.5. The card and the white scallop are from The Paper Cut. They were at a small craft show last Spring and I got them and a few other items...neat stuff. If you want to check them out - - http://www.thepapercut.com/ and http://www.papercreations.com/
A Cuttlebug emboss plate for the Love/14 impression and punched the vest from the same DCWV stack as the snowflake paper and the tiny heart has a pop dot under it.

I hope you enjoy them. If I was good with video I'd show you how the owl wiggles but that will have to be something I will work on and HOPE to post at some time. One of my 2011 resolutions.

And Away We Go!

Well the tree is gone, Christmas lights are gone, decorations around the house are gone and things are back in place. I get sort of sad as I remove Christmas things but as I finish and clean the house it does feel good. Lots of memories to enjoy from 2010.

Ideas are all around us right now. We are looking forward to more winter days with snow (snowman), Valentine's (hearts), Shamrocks (green beer?) and more. So off I go to my little crafting table to see what I can come up with.

Lots of birthdays are just around the corner so I have many birthday cards to make. So will put away the remainder of the Christmas items for another 9 months and start anew.

Looking forward to seeing what others are creating and sure hope to get more inspiration from them...some really great crafters out there.

Greeting Cards-New Toy

Hi there..well I am done with Christmas cards and have no idea what to make for New Year cards...yet.

So until I get an idea for New Years I'll start with thank you and birthdays. The pictures are not the best to show you how the purple/white just go so well with each other and the dark purple of the card - you can' t even see that! I did sort of an angle picture of the birthday card so you could see the pop dot under the cupcake. Papers used are from a DCWV "Sweet" paper pack. The cupcake punch is Fiskars.

My toy is the Scotch tape glider and it sure works great...once I got it loaded! I have a Glue Glider Pro but it just does not work all that well so it will go into the drawer for now. After hearing all the good comments on the Scotch glider and Michaels having it for $19!!! Sold me.

Yes Virginia There Is a Santa!!

One thing for sure this time of year - people are more kind and more generous. I have noticed it more this year than others - paying more attention.

Today, after I was done with grocery shopping. I decided to get myself a Starbucks (large size) Carmel iced coffee. Went to the drive up, placed my order, roll up to pay and the little gal there said "Merry Christmas - the customer before you paid for your coffee today!"

WOW...what a wonderful surprise. I left a tip and I will for sure pay it forward and do that for someone on my next trip to Starbucks.

Whoever you are - THANK YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Wonderful Gift

When I started this blog it was a place for me to post my cards, pictures, stories and other fun and interesting things. Hoping to give family and friends a place to visit and see what I was doing. Along the way hoping to have others visit and enjoy.

New Toy

Okay so maybe it isn't a toy but it is a nice addition to my kitchen. Most of you that know me know that I am not a baker or even a good cook ... but I do okay overall. Keep the Mister happy and that is what counts most!

I have got to tell you about my Ninja ... no not the sword, nunchakus sort of fellow ... this is a kitchen blender, mixer, chopper thing. Onions just kill my eyes when I have to cut them...just hate that, chopping tomatoes very tiny to make the salsa just right for the Man and so on. So after watching the info commercials and QVC I decided I like this machine and wanted one.

Now I have it and have used it....love it. So check it out if you are in the market for something like this.

Christmas Cards

Hi again - back with a couple more cards. I must say my Mojo has not kicked in a great deal. I found so much inspiration at Splitcoast Stampers, blogs and links from blogs. I thank all of you for the ideas I borrowed!

Paper flower is my idea - holiday papers, add a bit of glue and sprinkle with glitter.
Christmas Wishes - this one is CASED for sure. Changed it just a bit. (http://cardcornerbycandee.blogspot.com/)
Bird and branch are punched from Stampin Up bird punch, pop dot behind one wing and sentiment is from a sticker pack that I have had for a year or so.
Stampin Up stamp for the bells, gel pins and colored pencils. The music paper has a green tint to it so it went well with the base card.

Again they are simple and quick. Hope you enjoy.

Christmas Cards

I think some of the Mojo is back. I have a couple of cards ready to post that I think are keepers. Each one was overall an easy card. Stamping and punches, add some nice papers, ribbons and bling and ta da!!

I used Stampin Up Bells & Boughs for the poinsettia, bit of bling, punched tag wrote the Joy sentiment. Easy and I like how it turned out.

The Santa card was fun. Dimensional stickers, computer generated sentiment printed on card stock and then it was cut to fit the card, bit of ribbon, bling and star punch by Martha Stewart.

That little tiny Santa is on a 1 inch square of paper! TINY for sure and a nice challenge to color and add a bit of glitter! Snowflakes are buttons with the shank cut off and mounted with glue dots.

Red bird, branches and bow are from punches. Quick card overall - well except for gluing each little branch! I really like the branch punch.

Three trees - quick and easy! Trees are cut from pattern card stock, 2 have small pop dots, buttons and that is about it! Like I said quick and easy.

Enjoy them and comments are always welcome. Will have to make a few more Christmas cards. Once they are done I will post and share with you.

Purple Christmas Card

This is not a traditional color for the Poinsettia but I saw it done on another card and loved it.

The stamp set is from Stampin Up and it is called Bells & Boughs. I just love it. Used Versa Mark Dazzle to stamp Happy Holidays on the purple card, Martha Stewart punch for the green center paper, ribbon from Michaels, bling and then color pencils blended with Dove Blending Medium. Used a pop dot under the bells.

Christmas Cards

WHERE IS MY MOJO??? No ideas are coming together for Christmas cards! I did a couple but need many many more but the idea center in my brain must be sleeping. I really did not have that much turkey over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are all blessed with so much even in these difficult times that our country is in.

I am thankful for the best man in my life and all that he does for me and so many others, thankful for my kids and grand kids - they are the best for sure, thankful for all my other family and much love to them.

Thankful for our military and all that they do and give to keep us safe and hugs to their family that will not be with them this Thanksgiving. Thankful for my blog friends, followers and other visitors...that is what makes this fun for me.

Red Nose Reindeer

Oh my I found the most fun punch art reindeer and just had to make one. Owl punch to the rescue!
The Stampin Up owl punch was used for the face (remove feet), branch for the antlers and large eye for the hoof. Also use the wing from the bird punch for his tail!

Ruff cut circle and did a bit of inking the edges, google eye, Rain Dots for his nose, jingle bell and bling to finish him off.

Isn't he cute! Fun to make for sure. There are some amazing punch artist out there and I thank them all for the idea. I put my little spin on him to make him mine but please feel free to CAS him!

Inside: white card stock, inked sides with a bit of green and then did a holly punch for the corner. (sorry no picture) The second picture is a close-up so you can see a bit more detail if you like.

Got Turkey-Happy Thanksgiving

Hi all. I found this turkey idea while visiting Lynn Pratt's blog. She is amazing with punches. I just had to make this turkey on the platter.

This was so very much fun to punch out and make EXCEPT for the string on the turkey leg. Oh my but that was a tuffie to do. I felt like I was all thumbs but I did finally get it done.

The punch used for this turkey is the bird punch from Stampin Up. Sorry the color is a touch off-the card itself is a cream color. I like that this was a quick card and fun. Enjoy!

Snowflakes & Snowman

I have a couple of snowflake punches and was trying to come up with something to do with them. Last year I did a very neat wreath using the Martha Stewart branch punch; this year I am using a snowflake punch! What do you think?

Snowflake Card:
16 snowflakes (2 layers), bling for the centers, bit of ribbon and stamp/emboss sentiment. Card is white with black. It is a 4x5.5 card.

Snowman Card:
This is a tiny snowman! Card is a deep blue with white. The snowman is a digi that I got from Pink Petticoat. I punched out the snowman at 1.25 inch, the matt is 1.5 inch and glittered around the edges. Used the Cuttlebug to emboss the white background with snowflakes and then glittered some of the snowflakes. Card is 4.25x5.5.

Green branch is a Martha Stewart punch.
White branch is also from the bird punch. I did spray the white wreath with Stampin Up Smooch. Sorry you can not see that but it is difficult to show. Gives it a nice glimmer in person.
Ribbon, papers and bling are all just in my stash.

Elk In the Backyard

Saturday I was making some cupcakes when my Daughter called and said there is an Elk in the back yard. Their house backs to an open space and there is a lot of nature happening there all year round.

The Elk was at the back of the next door neighbor's yard - but within GREAT viewing range for sure. She had Bruiser (the dog) outside with her and the Elk was watching him but kept eating some of the vine that was on the fence. The back yards are not real large so the Elk was like "right there"!!!

It is so darn neat to have nature in your own back yard!

Short Haunted Story - Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado

I am sure that everyone, well almost everyone, knows that the Stanley Hotel is said to be haunted. Remember the movie the Shining? Here’s Johnny!

This Hotel was built in the 1900’s by Mr. Stanley. In case you did not know - he created the Stanley Steamer engine! No expenses were spared in the building of this hotel. It had running water, electricity and telephones…BUT it did not have heat so this was a summer retreat for sure. The hotel catered to the famous and rich; like Molly Brown! Remember her history with the Titanic and of course the gold rush in Colorado! Lots of history here in Colorado and I sometimes forget just how much there is!

It has been said that Mr. Stanley and his wife Flora haunt the lobby, bar area and the billiard room – that was his favorite room. Flora enjoyed playing the piano in the ballroom…when it is empty and if anyone goes in there to see who is playing – the music stops. They also like to greet the guests – at least the apparition seems to be greeting you!

The main floor, second story and several rooms have all had stories of haunting, lights turned off and on, the sound of children and the smell of smoke (cigars). If you take pictures you can be sure to catch something. There is a great deal more to tell about the Stanley but for now….just check out the pictures and you decide….are you up for a night at the Stanley?

Picture 1 is mine - no one can explain the image coming from the window (a room) on the second floor. Christine has a friend that has something similar BUT her picture is INSIDE the same room that mine picture show.

Picture 2 is Alex at the Stanley – had no idea of anything in the way when the picture was taken.

Picture 3-4 is one Christine took when she and her hubby stayed at the Hotel and took the haunted tour. This stair well is said to be vortex of activity-you can sort of feel a pull or a feeling of being drawn in. This is near room 217 – lots of activity there as well. Picture 1 is clear and a few minutes later they take another picture---wow see the difference? Christine does have other pictures with many orbs … yup I think it is haunted.

Haunted Cheesman UPDATE

A friend sent me this information she has in regard to Cheesman and her family!! Thanks Margie!

Here is what she said.....

My late husband was living in Denver as a child and he and his friends were playing in Cheesman park when the removal of some graves were going on -this would have been between 1949 to about 1955 based on his age.

There was lots of press about the carefull removal of each and every grave.
Instead there was a bulldozer scooping up the graves.

He and his friends were picking up bones from the rubble and assembled a skeleton!

Wow....with a giggle I could see my Son and a couple of Grandson's doing just this! Enjoy and THANKS MARGIE...

Haunted Cheesman Park-Denver

This is a beautiful Park in Denver with a bit of not so nice history. It is worth the read and do check out the sites listed above for more information

If you have ever been to Cheesman you’ll see green grass, large trees, children and family picnics, fountains, flower gardens and a lovely Pavilion. Beautiful place. But consider this – you just may be sitting on the grave of one of the many there that did not get moved! WHAT ? ?

Did you know that it is haunted? So the stories go – a bit of great history about Cheesman.

From what I have read on this it is one the most haunted places in Denver. This beautiful park was once, or maybe still is, a cemetery! Thousands of graves were dug up and moved, some never moved, it outraged the citizens of Denver. A wealthy businessman set aside 320 acres of ground for a cemetery as Denver was growing. It was named Mount Prospect. Laid to rest were people with money, without money and criminals…each had their own area. At some point the cemetery was sometimes called Boot Hill or the Old Bone yard. This cemetery never became what Mr. Larimer, the man who started it, had envisioned.

As years passed it was neglected and an eyesore. Ownership changed and belonged to a John Walley –but he did little to improve it. While owned by Mr. Walley the Cemetery was divided into sections: Jewish, Catholic, area for Mason, Army, Chinese and the paupers. The Catholic church purchased their section and maintained it until 1950. The Jewish bodies were removed and laid to rest in other areas. Some graves were tended to by the family members and such but it was overall not taken care of very well.

Somehow it was discovered that the ground was part of an Indian treaty signed around 1860 – terms of this made the city the actual owner of the land. City Hall announced that they wanted the bodies removed within 90 day and reburied someplace else. This was the summer of 1892. Spring of 1893 the city was preparing for the removal of the remaining 5,000 bodies. The Mayer was concerned about health problems resulting from opening so many graves and so the project was delayed. Rogers left town on a business trip - city council went into action and had the bodies removed. It started out okay but then tuned a bit crazy…bodies mixed with other bodies, grave robbing - it was awful. Some reports of games of catch with the skull, tossing the bones around but then a mysterious woman came upon the workers and told them they needed to say a prayer over each body as they were removed....if this was not done the souls would never find rest and would return.

The workers were feeling uneasy as they continued their work – saying that they would hear voices and groans. Those living in homes near the grounds reported knocking sounds, screams, moans and voices. Some saw spirits in their homes and on the streets as well as sound coming from the open graves at night.

When the Mayor returned the newspapers were running stores of things happening on the grounds and the corruption that came with the project. A scandal erupted and the process was halted. The remaining bodies were left buried and soon forgotten…or are they?

Many years have passed but the Spirits of those disturbed remain. There are stories from those living in the homes next to the park; ghostly sad moans, misty figures-shadows and even apparitions. Those souls disturbed wondering when they can finally rest in peace…..

Winter Pink

Hi everyone!

I needed a break from Halloween and with our weather lady saying we may get some snow I wanted to do something that was snow like. I just love this little girl..she is a digi that a friend shared with me.

Coloring/chalking are not my best thing but she turned out okay overall. I like the white flock for snow and punched a few snowflakes, ribbon and glitter.

OH...I will be posting a ghost story next week so be sure to visit then...it is a true one about a location here in Denver!!

Fall In My Neighborhood
